I like it

Found some typos for you in the gallery though:

"Adoration of the Shepherds" - This work of art also has a rhytmic energy - typo in rhythmic
"School of Athens" - The 29h riddle asked ... - missing the t in 29th
"The Last Judgment" - Various saints can be seen, a noticable example... - there should be an e in the middle of noticeable

Cheers

Found a bug

Can't get past Sleezy. After the battle has gone on a while, the game just arbitrarily restarts it.

Precisely one problem

And it's a doozy: if both gaps are on one side of the screen, and then on the next level they're both on the other side, you cannot pass the level due to bad luck. You need to have us start each level in the middle of the screen, or the game becomes unfair.

So frustrating

So here are my thoughts on things:

The time at which I most frequently hit an obstacle was immediately after hitting another obstacle, because the screen shakes and it's hard to tell what's where. WE NEED A GRACE PERIOD AFTER HITTING SOMETHING.

Also, it's a little unfair to be hit by something from the side when you think you're already past it. Numerous times I was hit by apparently nothing, because a moving obstacle got me from the side so thinly that it wasn't visible on the screen at all, which made it look like the game was just randomly assigning damage to me.

Between these two issues, now that I've gotten the medals I won't be returning to this game. Speaking of which, I got Speedy Dodger on my NG account, but it doesn't appear for me in-game. I hit refresh at the high scores screen rather than selecting an option, and that must have skipped over the part where it assigns the medal in-game. So you may want to move the assignation of in-game achievements to happen at the same time as sending the medal to NG.

Those things aside, it IS a solid game with a clean interface, and even though I find the controls a little awkward, that's apparently just me as others find the game very easy.

Buggiest. Shift. Ever.

I have to say, I am sorely disappointed in the newest Shift game, for a number of reasons. I had to refresh 3 times while playing through the campaign because the game lagged so hard that levels became impossible, and the game skipped the cutscene for chapter 3 and the first level of chapter 4, and jumped me straight to level 2 of chapter 4 which was unbeatable because I hadn't beaten level 1 of chapter 4 yet. When I finally got to the timed escape, I only had two levels until it jumped me to the end. The second one says "4 more rooms" and after I finished it I was done.

Having finished the Classic levels (and you must beat both classic level packs for the medal, not just the first one), level 11 of the first Classic one is highlighted in red for some reason. The pipe game doesn't hand out medals, and the slider one is broken. And after all of that, the medals (which are almost all non-trivial) are all worth only 5 points. I just voted it a 0.

The third level pack looks really challenging, and "winning" the boss battle means lasting 240 seconds, so there's that to come back for, but barring some SERIOUS bugfixes that's all I'm doing. There was so little new content in this game that if it weren't for the medals I wouldn't have played it at all. I hope this is the last Shift game, because you're clearly out of ideas.

Meh.

It's not bad, but it's not good either. The game also totally bugs out if you try to play it a second time.

As to the people complaining it's too hard, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Nut up and get some skills.

Any hints as to where the secret area is? And this Infinite Ice power I've heard about?

OmarShehata responds:

The secret bitey statue (in the secret area) is directly above the flag in one of the levels. You just gotta take a step to the right from it, make a small ice platform, jump on it and above.

Nice and simple

Though I'm pretty sure villager 38 is impossible to rescue.

You know what's missing?

A button to tell your troops to stay their asses put. I wasted as much time telling my troops I really did want them to hang out at the base where it's safe, as I spent actually killing things.

I'd also like to see it made a little more clear that you're meant to just shoot the alien commander like a normal target. The only ability you have at your base is sniper shot, and the game talks about having a sniper and needing to snipe the alien commander, and that was more confusing than it sounds.

It would also be useful to have a hotkey for the mercenary barracks (there's always an s on the end) in level 11

And finally, when I go to stats it lists me with 0 bases won even though I finished dominate mode (in 1 turn, no less), and says I have 10 hours, 322 minutes and 56 seconds of playtime. The 10 hours is incorrect.

Those issues aside, and they do detract from enjoying the game, overall it was well made and fun.

All done

Having things hovering in mid-air had me flumoxed for a bit, but I figured it out. I'm glad you made this game with a sense of humour. Some of the keys were a bit tricky, but the one in the maze levels I think was easier than you'd intended. Not really sure if there's anything you can reasonably do to change that though.

I think this is a game that deserves some medals if you feel like adding them. Just please make sure to resend any that we've already earned on gameload; it took an hour for me to reach the bosses, and then some more time after that to finish everything up, and as entertaining as the game was I don't look forward to doing it again.

futzi responds:

Thank you for your reply and congratulations on beating it!
Medals are a good idea, maybe I add them later.

Second!

By which I mean I'm the second person to get the 5k medal legitimately. Also I currently have the highest legitimate score, which is kind of neat.

One thing I noticed is that the more you use the hyper boost, the further left you go. Eventually it got to the point where I was so far left that I was half off the screen in normal mode, and in hyper mode I was entirely off the screen and had to rely on instinct and memory. I'm assuming this isn't supposed to happen, so consider this a bug report I guess.

Also, after about the 4500m mark, there's a red couch (not armchair) at the far right end of a falling building that doesn't descend with the building, and ends up hovering in mid-air. It didn't kill me at all because I was landing late enough on the building that I could jump over the couch and land safely on the next building, but couches defying gravity seems like a bug.

Deploy the... I think it's a yellow button... it's usually flashing... it makes the engines go... WHOOSH!
