Great implementation of a great game

I've always liked the game of Life. I keep meaning to go out and find all the patterns, and I'd like to make one that crawls across the screen, reaches the edge, and then crawls back, but I never have the time to figure it out. All that's missing is a turn counter on sandbox mode.

Also, what's with everyone's patterns being symetrical? The asymetrical ones are far more fun:

...and it's amazing how much of a difference 3 pixels makes:

Good idea, I'll add a generation counter in the sandbox if I make a sequel :)

Eh, it's not bad...

In a game where you must always be accelerating, momentum can't be as important. It's really, really hard to manoeuver well because if you accelerate for a third of the playing field, you can't slow down fast enough to stay in the circle.

I'd also like to see different playtypes, such as one where the circle doesn't shrink and you get points for how many opponents you knock out as well as being the last in the ring. Some variety.

ZuiGe responds:

ever tried sumo deathmatch? :)

heh.

Great game

Level 50 may seriously be my favourite level in any game, ever. This game was both entertaining and fun. I was able to do several levels in fewer gates than you're supposed to, though. One 9 level I did with 6. I think when you've finished the game you should be able to go back through the levels and listen to the intended solutions, in case yours were different.

Also, there's no d in congratulations ;)

RowlandRose responds:

Heh, yea that's my major 'oops' in this game :) CongraTulations on beating the game!

Glorified Same, away!

There's a windows game called Same that's very similar to this, except the board starts full and you whittle it down, and when a column is gone the pieces shift over.

I assume you're aware that if you lose, clicking on Play again picks you up right where you left off, including your score, right? That's how people are getting such high scores1 so many times in a row. Should probably fix that.

PsychoGoldfish responds:

That was a bad copy/paste error on my part, thanks for pointing it out, got 'r fixed

Good game, but...

Due to lag it is impossible to defeat the siege engines on hard difficulty. A framerate of 1 fps while combat is still going on is just too slow. And why are the siege engines the only enemies that ever attack your towers?

Phantasmagor responds:

coz they are siege engines!

Fun little time killer

This really is a nice way to spend a few minutes when you need to unwind. I think the controls are a little too sensitive though. For later levels it's not really worth my time to even attempt the sheep or goats further back because they move too quickly and the mouse logic is too specific.

BoMToons responds:

Haven't heard this complaint yet. Not sure what I could do to improve on this one.

Not bad for what it is

but I really don't like games that actually lack an ending. The last level just goes on forever or until you get tired of it, which isn't cool.

GameFreak89 responds:

oh well i figured it would allow people who enjoyed the game to be able to continue after having finished the main levels

It's okay

My only real beef with the game is that when the Phil model resets to the next most wounded, the movement patterns restart. Every time Phil enters from the right and I hurt him enough, he starts over from the left again, and the pattern is always resetting in level 2.

And where can I view my score in the guestbook?

chillyphilly responds:

yeah i know im trying to fix that. yeah you can view your score at my site. then click on the book

Deploy the... I think it's a yellow button... it's usually flashing... it makes the engines go... WHOOSH!
